Advanced Photoshop and my actual work is Art Director for one of the biggest italian magazines company.

My aim in this tutorial is to show you all the steps of the work I did on this illustration.

Well. I started with some character concept drawing to find the best pose for the illustration I had in mind.
首先我会从概念设计开始,然后从我的想法中找到最佳的角色姿势。
I placed the pose I did like the most in a new document and started to draw rough and big paints just to have an overall Idea of the color balance and composition.
我把自己满意的姿势绘制在新的文档里,然后开始绘制大体的草图。只要把大体的颜色和构图画出即可。
To have an exact reference of the bricks perspective I created a poly model in Maya
为了得到准确的砖墙的透视参考,我在Maya里面使用多边形建模来完成。
and than I started to paint the background following the model perspective lines
然后我就根据这个参考物体的透视线把背景绘制出来。
After that I focussed my attention on the water under the character. I studied water ponds to see the behaviour of small
waves and of the reflexes. In this step the Photoshop “smudge tool” helped a lot.
接着我把注意力放在角色下面的水的表现上,我在池塘里观察小波纹的运动规律。在这一步骤中,Photoshop的涂抹工具给我很大帮助。
I would like to increase the dynamism of the image so I added a motion blur effect to the tentacle in foreground and I also made a water spray that follows his movement.
我想为画面添加一些动感,所以我为前面的触手添加了一些动感模糊,同时也根据运动方向绘制了一些溅开的水花。
Now cames the moment of the details, so I added a backward highlight to each tentacle and to the man shape.
现在开始绘制细节,我为每一根触手和角色都添加了轮廓光。
I also gave a water drip effect to tentacles near the liquid, to let image the viewer that they just came out from it.
我也为触角绘制了水滴的效果,让观众感觉他是刚从水里出来一样。
Than I felt the brick walls with some vandals writing
然后我在砖墙上绘制了一些涂鸦效果。
(the word “pain” is almost in all my pain-tings).

Since the illustration environment was a sewer, I felt the need to add garbages and some dirty rat

I did thing that a funny detail could steal a smile from the viewers and increase dynamism, so I made a flying rat that was dragged by the tentacle as side-effect of Jonathan’s attack.
我添加了一些笑料让读者觉得好玩,并且为画面增添活力,所以我画上一只被角色的触角弹飞的老鼠。
Than I just added a background lighting as the daylight rays and the game is done!
最后在背景上添加了一个白天的光线效果,这幅画就完成了。
